The MOMentum That Could

Deb Weidner

Throughout my entire life, I have always made it a point to make exercise a priority. I had a gym membership that I utilized a lot during my single days and when I married and moved to South Carolina, luck was on my side. I could transfer my membership to a fitness club down there. I became pregnant with my first daughter while living in South Carolina. To keep up my exercise habits, I took aerobic classes and bicycled in order to maintain my weight. After my first daughter was born, I moved back to Pennsylvania. I continued with my gym membership and exercise routines throughout my second pregnancy and up until the time when my girls started school.

Once my girls started school, I had to start working a full-time job. With this, my exercise started to slip. I began walking about 3-5 miles around my neighborhood with some friends. This wasn’t enough to keep off the extra 20 pounds I put on over the years. After gaining 20 pounds, I joined Weight Watchers through my office and met with other members over our lunch hour. I lost the 20 pounds and kept them off for a few years.

Then my girls entered high school and joined the marching band. I spend a lot of time working with the band boosters and my walking and most other forms of exercise went to the sidelines. My eating habits also took a turn for the worse and therefore, I put on the pounds I had worked so hard to keep off. When my daughters went off to college I had to take up a part-time job to bring in extra cash and to keep me busy. Exercise was no more! Eating right was a concept that completely left my brain and the pounds just piled on. I tried to go to the gym again, but I just didn’t have enough time with working two jobs. After time, I decided I needed a change— I quit my second job and joined Momentum.

My niece belonged since the club’s opening, and she convinced me to join after telling me about all the classes that were offered. Last January, I joined and thought that by using the weight machines, treadmill and wave, I would lose the weight. It didn’t work like it had in the past. Menopause came into the picture around that time and, of course, my weight didn’t get any better. I simply worked out to maintain my weight since losing it was out of the question.

When my oldest daughter got married this past summer, I saw myself in her wedding photos and could not believe what I looked like. After seeing those pictures, I was determined to lose weight. That’s when I found out about Momentum’s nutrition program— Weight Loss Revolution. I made an appointment and was set to begin. Every night, I packed my breakfast and lunch for the next day and then used the menus to plan what I would have for dinner. With customized meal plans and a workout routine set up specifically for me, I started to lose weight. Since starting in August, I have lost a total of 15 pounds and almost 10 inches on my body. I am continuing to lose weight thanks to Momentum and my nutrition coach. Now I can say that my eating and exercise habits are back on track…finally!
